The Good Nite Lite

This night light has been incredibly helpful especially as we incorporated it in my son’s life the weekend of daylight savings. Now he gets so excited for the moon to come on at night and in the morning, he won’t leave his bed until the sun is on. Well, worth it!

We bought this for our 2.5 year old daughter love to get up at 5:30am each day. She is still in a crib, but would wake up at 5:30 am crying for us to come get her. She is a terrible napper, so an early wake-up plus crying session would result in a tired and cranky 2 year old by late afternoon. At 2.5, she intuitively understood the concept after we explained it to her the first night. Blue means “time to go to bed”, yellow means “time to get up”, however, she protested for the first 2-3 weeks by making a fuss while the light was still blue. It was not easy, but we consistency refused to go in before it turned yellow (which we set around for around 6am). After the 2nd or 3rd week, she got it. She still wakes up around 5:30-5:45, but we can see her on the video monitor look at the light and if it’s still blue, she lays back down. Sometimes she will even stand up in the crib and watch the light, but as soon as it’s yellow, she’s knows it’s okay to call for us. She also loves to talk about the light, and shows it to every person who comes to visit.

I have one three year old daughter. We were experiencing the 4 to 5am wake up calls until we got this light. We followed the instructions to a T, setting the light at the time she would normally wake up, and then 15 minutes later consecutively, each night. The first morning, she woke up the same time so excited to see the moon turned into a sun. The next morning she woke up the same time, but stayed in her room to play until the moon turned into a sun. I don’t know exactly why this changed her mind set, but sure enough the third day she woke up a half hour later than she had been in months! It took a good three weeks to get us to 6:30, but we are there, and unless she is sick we have stayed there! I HIGHLY recommend this product to everyone who has a little one not sleeping through the night. Worked brilliantly for us!

My son (2.5yrs) had recently decided that 4am was an acceptable wakeup time which had thrown our house into chaos. Nothing (earlier bedtimes, later bedtimes, etc) could convince him to lay in bed with us or rest without parental attention so we had given up and were just living with it. Everyone was tired all the time and his meltdowns about every small thing were too common of an occurrence. A friend mentioned the Good Nite Lite to me during a play date and within a few days, I had enough of the 4am wakeup calls and decided to order. Just to note, mornings were our tough time – bedtime (8pm) was not an issue. Thankfully, the shipping was pretty quick (ordered on a Tuesday morning and received Friday afternoon) and we opened and setup the clock part immediately (some re-reading of directions but pretty easy once you got the hang of it) and started the learning process that night. I honestly thought my son would not pay attention to the light but he got it very quickly. The training process took 2night/mornings and we only had to go into his room twice the first morning to remind him to look for the sun to shine. After that, he did not call for us before the sun light came on. The result of my son (and us!) getting the sleep that we need is wonderful. He is having less meltdowns and is a much happier boy. We are now at a comfortable wakeup time for our household. This is the best money we have spent in a long time and very worth it!

Our son had been waking consistently around 5:15 since the day after Christmas. It has been 10 long months of fatigue and frustation. We tried blankets over the windows, putting him to bed earlier, putting him to bed later…..EVERYTHING. He now seems old enough to understand the concepts of moon/sun. We set the sun at 5:50am originally and have set it back later and later every few days. We’re now to 6:20. It helps prior to 6:00…when he wasn’t exactly sure what he was waiting for if we told him it was night-night time. Now, he understands. He sees the moon and knows its time to sleep. He can play only when he sees the sun. Our only peeve about it is how bright the moon is: hubby took it apart and put electrical tape over the bulbs to dim the moon. And we actually set the moon to turn on at 5:00am and switch over to the sun at 6:20. It just wasn’t needed at night- Its a work in progress…but definitely progress and nothing worked up until now. I am so relieved we purchased it.
