Melissa & Doug Slice and Bake Cookie Set

Melissa and Doug Slice and Bake Cookie Set I bought this for my granddaughter, almost three, who already has the fruits and vegetables for her pretend kitchen. She has been rolling out, baking, and painting sugar cookies with me and is fascinated by making cookies. She spend hours yesterday playing with this set. The velcro is a little stiff and one velcro piece pulled off the cookie sheet. I would buy this again in a heart beat, though.

Purchased this for my 23 month old daughter for Christmas to go with her toy kitchen set. While the cookie pan is too big to fit in her toy oven, she has been having a great time making “cookies” for everyone. She doesn’t quite have the idea of slicing the velcro cookies, but that isn’t important to her right now. She wanted to take them with her to daycare the other day and was rather unhappy when she had to leave them at home! We have other Melissa and Doug items and have never been disappointed.

I love the quality of melissa and doug’s product. This brand so far has never let me down. Great Stuff!

Let me start off by saying the item description says “Batteries: 4074 Lithium ion batteries required.” I noticed it after I ordered (I knew it didn’t take batteries) but thought it was kinda funny and wanted to point it out. Now about the toy. We love it! We have the brownie set, apple pie, stir fry, grill, birthday cake, cutting foods, fridge foods, pantry foods, fruit, veggie sets. This is our new FAVORITE! Plus what kid (big or little) doesn’t like cookies! Educational for counting, processes, instructions and it’s also just a great thing to have with our ‘tea’ at our tea parties with our stuffed furry friends!

My daughter is 21 months and her cousin is almost 3. This is the toy they both run to first when they get to Gramma and Grampa’s house. Whether it’s sorting the cookies in the can and dumping them or actually pretending to make cookies it’s great fun.

My 2.5 year old received this for Christmas. I can’t describe how clever this is. The cookies are held together by velcro. The child dumps out the “roll” of cookie dough, and then “slices” the wooden pieces apart using a wooden knife. Then they put the cookie dough onto a baking sheet that has velcro on it as well. Using a red checkered oven mitt, after “baking” the child puts the icing pieces on top of the cookie dough, attached again by velcro. Then there is another wooden spatula to lift the cookies off the baking sheet and serve! This toy is so cute, I’d recommend it to anyone.

Both my 5 year old and 2 year old love this. Great toy for pretend play. I would definitely buy it again.

We have loads of pretend play things in our house (dress up clothes, little people playsets, doctor kits, animals, etc…). Most of it just lays around untouched. This cookie set is the exception. My son loved it when he first received it a year ago and still plays with it often. We have other Melissa and Doug sets as well: the ice cream set, cupcakes, food slicing, and pizza sets. He plays with those, but not nearly as much as the cookies. His friends like this DS found an old timer to keep in his set and uses the box as his oven. We also put some small paper plates in for added play. Some skills DS has learned with the help of this set (with adult interaction): -sorting by color/topping -counting to 12 -learning what a dozen is -fine motor skills through cutting -oven safety -simple dividing Overall, the set has held up well over the past year. None of the paint is chipping yet and the velcro still sticks. Two of the velcro circles on the cookie sheet are starting to peel up, but nothing a little super glue can’t fix. We use the box for storage when it isn’t being used and it has faired pretty well for cardboard. DS (4) says “I like it cause I get to make cookies. It is so awesome.” I would highly recommend this product.
