Every dad who loved hot wheels as a kid should buy one of these radar guns (as a gift for his child, of course). It adds a new element of fun to racing the cars down a track, and can even be educational. My daughter now knows for sure which of her Hot Wheels is fastest. It is simple to use, and can even be used on other moving objects such as bikes and real cars. I can’t believe that this technology is available at such a low price. We have only had it for a short time, so I cannot speak to durability. It does seem to be well constructed, though. Update: Have now had this for almost three years, and it is still working great. Have used it on Hot Wheels, slot cars, and real traffic.

I bought several of these radar guns for a presentation/demo where I teach kids about the basic math and physics of radar, including Doppler. I read some of the negative reviews, and I want to make sure that people understand what they’re using. The maximum Doppler shift occurs when the direction of motion (straight line in the direction the object is moving) is parallel to the line of sight (straight line between the radar gun and the object). That’s because the wave is compressed (if approaching) or stretched (if receeding) by the motion of the object. If the direction of motion is perpendicular to the line of sight, as it is while the object is passing directly in front of you, there is no compression or expansion of the wave – no Doppler shift. In that case there is no basis for a speed measurement. To make this point with my demo, I have the students point the radar gun straight down the long leg of a train track and wait for the train to come around. This gives the best and most stable measurement.

We purchased 6 of these for the “kids”(ages 5 to 54) on our Christmas list. We had so much fun on Christmas day timing everything from the adults running foot races (hilarious!) to the kids riding bikes, to the squirrels running on the fence, to the cars driving down the street. The possibilities were limitless! This radar gun also offers a very cool opportunity to teach the kids some math with the conversion to scale. I can’t tell you how much fun it was with the adults, teenagers(yes, the teenagers!) and little guys in our family interacting. Everybody agrees that this was the best Christmas ever with memories that will last for a lifetime! And all of this because of a very cool toy!

Ok, I don’t know who gets more of a blast out of this toy-we parents, or the kids! It’s amazing to me that this toy is available in any store-especially considering it’s price when so many hot holiday toys are so expensive. Everyone wants this thing in their hands-that being said it is tough to share, but it sure does yield serious competition for racing via practically any means. Exercise anyone?! Skateboarders, inline skaters, runners, scooters, biking, frisbie and ball throwing, flying birds, autos of all kinds…oh, wait, were we supposed to play this with Hot Wheels pocket cars-yeah, it does that too (for rainy days I suppose)! Awesome fun!

My 6 year old got this for his birthday and loves it. He’s gotten into Hotwheels racing and can clock the speed of his cars. My husband and I took it outside and clocked the cars going up the street. Has a hotwheels scale and 1:1 scale.

This is a truly fun toy, especially for boys. I have a 8-year old daughter, who naturally doesn’t enjoy this that much, but I surely loved it. Here are what I found good and not-so-good about this toy: Pros: 1. Durable and reliable, it should last a very long time. 2. Easy to learn how to play and has user-friendly design. 3. Very powerful, more so than any RC controlled cars, choppers that I have played. Cons: 1. The only complaint I have is the battery lift, last only about half an hour after a full charge.

Awesome stuff about this RC Car: + Goes really fast + Comes with rechargeable battery & charger + Converts to “Monster Truck” with the press of a button + Tough – bumps into stuff, might flip over but keeps going! + Also tough enough for small ramps & jumps + COntrols easy to understand – we didn’t need the manual + Good size Notes: = Be careful around breakable items in house, car is powerful enough to knock some stuff over = When batteries low, car slows down & remote doesn’t work as well, so recharge = If car gets stuck, use the suspension to unstick This is a fun RC toy. Looks really cool, especially when it turns. We get about 40 minutes of play time for every charge on our battery, then it takes 4 hours to recharge. It was a nice surprise to discover that the remote has 3 channels, so we can have 3 going at once. Don’t have any friends that have them yet though. You can also make the car flip over and it will run upside down. It’s so fast, you can set up a ramp in the yard and it will fly for a short time. I was impressed with the car’s durability. My 10YO and teens have set up an obstacle course for it and the car was no worse for the wear after running it. My 10 YO is recommending this to all his friends.

It is fast and has a solid design so if the toy is run into someone’s shin, expect some yelping. The best road usages are paved roadways, hardwood floors, and short carpet. This truck doesn’t run very well in the grass unless the grass is cut very short. Although the color is described as gray, mine is green and black on the one side and red and gray on the other side – very sharp looking. When in race car mode, if it runs into something it can climb up (such as the side of a low base couch), it will flip over to the other colored side and keep on zipping around. The wheels need to be able to grip onto something to make it flip so don’t expect it to climb up walls to flip over – it can’t do this. Also, you cannot convert to the monster truck mode if the race car is flipped to the opposite side – you have to flip the unit over again to make the conversion. The only down side we’ve experienced with this toy is the rechargeable battery life. When fully charged, it only can run for approximately 15 minutes before needing recharged for several hours.

We got this rc for my son, and I did not want to do a review right away because I wanted to see how durable it is (we had other more expensive rc vehicles that broke or fell apart right away). It was last years Christmas present, and I bought Tonka because they are supposed to be “Tonka Tough”. My biggest concern was that it would not be fast enough. My son likes to race his vehicles at the local hobby shop against professionl rc builders. We discovered that this truck is really fast for a cheaper rc vehicle. We have not had any problems with the battery or anything, and it still works like new. The coolest function of this vehicle is that you can push a button on the remote, and the low stunt vehicle raises up like a monster truck! It is so much fun to watch when it rotates, and becomes a totally different vehicle, and now you can drive it over rocks, and hills etc… My son loves this vehicle, and considering that it can keep up with the $200.00 vehicles for less than half that price I feel we got a good deal. We only paid $70.00 for it, and it was well worth it!

You definitely need some time to get used to the controls – they’re easy to use, but to learn the finesse of gently toggling the directional controller while also gently toggling the directional controller takes a while – and that learning process is also fun. There were a few times I inadvertently drove the car right up the trunk of a tree, making it flip over. Unlike most other RC cars, I did not have to run over to the car to fix it’s position. I simply toggled the monster-truck setting to flip the car over and drive it back to me so I could flip it back the right way. Yes – the car will drive upside down and knows which way it is oriented! The big knobby tires make maneuvering over bumpy terrain a fun adventure. Unlike more delicately designed RC cars, you don’t have to be worried this thing will bump into something else and get damaged. I’ve taken it through its paces several times and it’s a top performer every time. While it’s not die-cast metal like the old-time Tonka trucks, the light plastic gives it more battery time as the motors aren’t overworking themselves to maneuver a heavy metal object.

I have never written a single review on Amazon but I feel compelled to write one for this toy. We got this for my son last Christmas (it has been 1 year) and we also have many, many hot wheel tracks. I have to tell you that the Darda track is the best track ever. Easy to assemble (on Christmas Day), stays together (has never come apart in one year – and we can just pick it up and move it). The cars make it all the way around almost every single time. Easy for younger kids to wind the cars and fun for the older kids too, even mom, dad and grandparents! The tracks can be configured in two or three different ways and combined with other tracks. These tracks can be difficult to find but if you want a quality toy, that’s fun for every age, this is it. Worth the money!

My boys, 3 and almost 6, really love this track. We have owned the track for two years, and it is still in excellent condition. They do need help to assemble the different configurations, but my six year old will learn to do it himself soon. The cars, when revved, will make one loop around the track, and then they stop – but you can use the bump-and-go cars and have a second car go around without stopping to rev it up. A couple tips: Do not run the cars on carpet. Dust the track before running the cars on it if it has been sitting for a while on a shelf. Also, if the track does not sit flat on the ground, or rocks too much, try weighting it down with some big toy blocks…the cars cannot maintain their momentum if the track sways too much – sometimes when the loops are bent into a new configuration, the track doesn’t at first lie flat, and I think that is where the complaints come from, that the cars won’t complete a loop or will jump the tracks. One con: new motors for the cars aren’t that cheap – but the motors last longer if you don’t let kids use them on the carpet! And it’s not much different than buying replacement batteries for other toys. Overall, very fun – the cars move so fast! I like to play with it myself. Am considering another set for this Christmas, to add on.

great for little children because they can assemble the track any way they like. It stimulates their imagination providing hours of fun.

Darda is a huge hit with my four year old daughter! She loves her track, even though she has little to no interest in assembling it. Once assembled, though, the track is fairly sturdy and easy to keep set up for several days. We put it in our dining room and a few times each day would sit down and run our cars on it for awhile.A month after Christmas, it’s been moved to a bedroom where visiting children flock to play with it. We have three cars total so there are enough for a few to play at a time. Some 3 year olds don’t have enough manual dexterity to move the cars fast and long enough to wind them. They also seem to not understand that starting the car on the straight, level part is most effective. I’ve had to demonstrate that to a few little boys, but my daughter caught on right away. I’d probably not suggest this toy for someone under age 4.

We got this up and running last night in no time flat. My 5 year old wasn’t really able to help much with the set up, he was in charge of supplies. Once set up we noticed what others have noticed, that the long yellow track lifts the base plates off the ground. We just grabbed some duct tape and taped it to the carpet. Problem solved. The amazing thing about this toy is that it really REALLY works. That little car goes flying around the track through the loops in a flash. Sometimes it takes my son a few tries to get the car started right, he might push to hard or let go at an angle and it will fly off the track. But that doesn’t inhibit the fun! I even did a few runs on my own after bed time. Highly recommended!

This train table exceeded my expectations in so many way. I was very happy with the quality and it is standing up to my children’s abuse. I also wanted to note that this seller is incredible and worked with me when we had problems. Outstanding product and service.

Impressed by the quality of wood the table is made of and how easy it was to put together! AND all different types of track and trains fit this track! You won’t be disappointed!

Santa brought this train table for my 3 year old son for Christmas 2009. He absolutley loves it! My husband put it together in no time at all. It is a great product for the value….My son plays with it every day. The only thing I wish is that the tracks were more secure. He has all is Thomas wooden trains on the table and they work great. The bins underneath are perfect for storing the trains when they are not being used which is not very often.

Finally, the 2 under table drawers are great for stowing away things. Many reviews recommended gluing down the track. We opted not to do this and so far and I’m glad because we can use the table for other purposes if we choose to. It hasn’t been an issue – none of the children who’ve played with it have messed up the track. You may want to test it out with your child before permanently gluing things down. The only complaint is that there is a part of the track that goes under a bridge, but the space under the bridge is not really tall enough for the train to go under without bumping the top of the tunnel. This was an easy fix with thin pieces of wood to boost the bridge up higher and now it works smoothly.

The discription for the train set did not itemize all the parts that were included. I was pleasantly surprised to see more parts than expected, the brilliant colors and the durability of the set. This toy will be enjoyed for many years.

We are having a blast with this table! At first I was apprehensive about not getting a “Thomas” table, because everyone says how great they are. I decided to listen to myself and the other reviewers instead. This table shipped quickly, was pretty easy to assemble, and does not seem flimsy. I have two rough little guys plus one I babysit. They have not stopped playing with it since we got it for Christmas. My kids are 5 and 1.5 and both enjoy it a lot. The track itself is a kind of a pain to put together since they just give you a chart to set it up by. Overall, hightly suggested. The price is pretty great too.

This was a Christmas present for my 2 1/2 yr old son and he loves it! It has survived many a “tough” playtimes already. The assembly was AMAZINGLY fast and simple. Great value and Great price!

My husband put it together for our grandson. It was fairly easy to put together, only difficult part is when a 18 month old boy moves pieces around and in differnt rooms while you are assembling it. He is a little young to really play with it yet, but he is having fun with all the pieces.

Santa heard my 3 1/2 year old son’s wish list and dropped this off at our place. What a winner! He loves it, as does his little friend. It was super easy to assemble and took less than 30 seconds to teach my son how to make it work. The review asked about the educational value of the toy, and frankly, at his age, I don’t see it. He sees a little tiny plane that he can fly, and at the same time he runs his little trains. So, for him it is a fun novelty.

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my 2 year-old Grandson and he loves it. The airport, along with the GeoTrax train set, were his favorite toys. He spends hours playing with it!

My 2 y/o got this for his birthday. You do need a parent to set it up, but once it’s put together it’s pretty durable. My son loves to watch the plane loop de loop. I didn’t think he’d get the remote control but he did! One of his new favorites. I think he will like for a few years to come, also. My only problem is that you can’t order track for the GeoAir like the GeoTrax series. Instead, you have to order expansion packs. =P It’s minor.

We gave this gift to my son for Christmas, and he loves it. It is hours of fun, the plane goes around the track with ease and does not disconnect while in use. Very durable. He loves his GeoTrax Plane and loves the video that comes with it. He plays with it over and over without having to come to me to fix it if it disconnects. Well worth the price we paid for it.

Since I am a pilot my family has become used to getting pilot/airport related gifts. When I bought this for my 3 year old nephew I wasn’t sure if it was too basic for him. I mentioned to my sister in law that I got this for him and she said that is great, he saw it somewhere and really wanted it. When he opened this for Christmas he jumped up and said, I really wanted this. We had to put it together immediately. He LOVED it. I still thought it was pretty simple and basic, but he was enthralled. I think I may have to get him the barnstormer set next so he can add on and have even more fun. I give it two thumbs up for fun and entertainment. Plus it was very very easy to put together.

This is our first Geotrax/GeoAir Product we own. My brother bought this toy for my son’s 3rd birthday – we put it together easily, it wasn’t difficult to assemble at all. When my son woke up and found it, he immediately figured out to push the “green” button on the remote to make it go, and the “red” button to make it stop. He loves playing with it, and the ease of use makes it very fun for him. Educationally he was using the concepts, up and down, twis around, colors, and fine motor skills to push the buttons. The only downside is the airplane is “slightly” hard to push down on the tracks, but I think after a few days he’ll get it. All in all I think this is a fantastic toy and I highly recommend it. I think my son has some more “Geo” items in hs future!

It is great fun for 4-5 year kid and they enjoy it for a long time. The toy is very robust and would last long time. Though remember u need to spend on the battery.

This is a very nice toy. Love how it is able to set up and break down for travel. Great that other pieces can be attached to make up a very wonderful world for little ones to play with.

The Take-n-Play line is a GREAT investment to consider making for your little one. Rescue from Misty Island was one of the two new playsets added between Fisher-Price’s original Spring 2010 and “final” 2010 Collector Checklists, and with a December 2011 MSRP of $43.00 is well worth that price. I paid just $34.99 for my grandson’s, and a GOOD portion of our basement is now a wonderful Sodor land of make believe that he loves to visit with all of his trains (and Grandma!) Along with Rescue from Misty Island, there’s Cranky at the Docks, Tidmouth Sheds, Thomas at the Farm, Percy’s Mail Delivery, Knapford Station, Tidmouth Tunnel, Rumbling Gold Mine Run, The Dieselworks, Sodor Engine Wash, Colin at the Wharf, Target exclusives “Load & Go” and “Thomas at Pirate’s Cove”, ToysRUs exclusive “Rock Quarry Run”, Tesco exclusive “Toby at Trotter’s Farm”, a “Sir Handel at Great Waterton” I found at WalMart, as well as a “Talking Diesel’s Fuel & Freight Delivery” I found on-line. HE LOVES THEM ALL!

WOW! My son LOVES this. He played with it all day and has continued to play with it everyday since we purchased it. It’s great and easy to set up. On carpet it can be a bit wobbly (over the bridge area), but it holds up really well. I like it a lot and I am happy I made the purchase.

I bought this for my 3 year old son and it is literally the only toy he plays with now. I love that it all folds up and portable as we bring it back and forth from Grandmas house almost daily!

After reading all of the negative reviews, I wasn’t certain if this was the best choice for my son’s Christmas present. We really liked it, though, so we went ahead and got it. My son LOVES it, and at two and a half, he doesn’t often need help with fixing the playset while he’s playing. He needed some help with the tunnel for a while, but he’s more careful now. He didn’t understand how to attach the log to the crane (magnetic) so we showed him. He can operate the shaking bridge by himself, and he can fold up and down one side of the track, depending on how he wants it. We’ve already lost the train that it came with, but we have two more. It folds up and travels really well, and it’s a great space saver for those who don’t want to invest in a large train table.

I bought the Thomas and Friends Misty Island rescue set last Christmas for my son, who was 3 at the time. As a HUGE Thomas fan, he loved to watch the engines on DVD and often played the Thomas and Friends games online. One day, he discovered the “commercial” for this playset, and needless to say, it became the most important item on his wish list to Santa! The playset came mostly assembled, with a only a few pieces to attach (for support) so that take-n-play engines can roll down the incline. We’ve had the set for almost a year now, and it’s held up pretty well. We still have all the pieces and my son, who’s now 4, plays with it (and his other take-n-play sets) at least 3 times a week. The little crane has a magnet so that it can pick up the engines and “rescue” them and the tracks attach easily to other take-n-play compatible sets. Overall, GREAT toy, well worth the price! Though I must admit, I bought it for $37.99 last year, so it seems the price has gone up considerably. Try comparing prices elsewhere to get the best deal!

This Thomas the train track is really great! It’s really big, wasn’t expecting that, but for the money, you get a lot of train track. When it’s all set up, this track is approx 5′ 7″! The large size makes it easy for our son (2 1/2yrs old) to get inside and out of it to play. The collapsable bridge is easy to use. I think this is durable, we’ve had to put some of the same parts back on over and over again b/c he keeps taking them off, but that’s not an error in the track, it’s our son. It’s easy to assemble and we all have had a blast playing with it!

My four year-old loves this toy. We have it set up on his train table and he plays with it often. There are a lot of pieces, but it didn’t take a very long time to assemble it. So far, no problems with anything breaking, although the sides of the bridge tend to come off easily if he pulls on them. Overall, it has been a great toy and we are happy with this purchase.

This is a great toy! It kept my 3-year-old entertained for a long period of time. He typically doesn’t play with anything for very long, so I was so happy when he sat for about an hour with this toy. He gets to use his imagination, but he can also re-enact scenes from the Great Discovery movie.

My grandson was delighted with this set. He played with nothing else for weeks. It has enough parts that easily change the direction of the train to keep him interested. He is, however, a die-hard Thomas fan.

I ordered this toy for my 2 1/2 year old daughter who loves trains and adores Thomas. It was easy to assemble. My daughter loves to watch Thomas ride the track over and over again. I am pleased with my purchase and I recommend it.

He loves these Thomas trains. I’ve assembled and deconstructed them many times. Very durable, quality product.Product arrived just as expected and in a timely manner. I would absolutely purchase again and have.

My son loves this toy! He is 3 years old and he has been obsessed with trains especially thomas since he was 2 years old! he has been wanting this specific train track since his 3rd bday on september 2011. i promised him i would find it! i searched walmart online, toys r us online and everywhere else. finally i found it here. and although i paid almost 100.00 for it, it was worth every penny!

My 2 1/2 year old just loves this toy. He is a Thomas fanatic in general, but he really enjoys this particular track. The spiral track and the downhill fall are fun to watch…for all ages! It is pretty easy to put together, and it is quite sturdy. No need to worry about it falling apart, even given how rough toddlers can be with their toys! I thoroughly recommend this toy…your little Thomas-fan will thank you!

This is one of the most durable and fun toys in the Trackmaster collection. My Grand daughter loves it and plays with it constantly. She had it set up and our Labrador Retriever crashed into it and it still worked fine. Love it !

The trucks (I ordered two) were a great hit with my two and five year old nephews at Christmas. They want to play with them constantly. I’m am positive they will provide many years of fun and will be one of the treasured toys of their boyhood as the large Tonka trucks were for my son.

I recently tried ordering Tonka Toughest Mighty TRUCK (the truck with the black handle, before the picture was changed), but I received the Tonka Toughest Mighty DUMP TRUCK (the truck with the red handle that is priced for [...]). I have no problem with the trucks. Point- There is a difference in price between the two and I paid $[...] for a truck that is listed for $[...]. So double check the picture and the price, every dollar counts these days!

My son (2 yrs, 10 mths) has had this truck for at least 1.5 years and he loves it. Big wheels make it easy to push anywhere. Everything imaginable has been loaded into it and it is sturdy enough to stand up to him sitting in it. A great product with a long life expectancy.

We gave this to my son on his 1st birthday. He pushed it around some but loves to pile all of his other toys in the back. I can tell he is going to love this as he grows and especially when when the weather warms so he can take this outside. Very durable and very heavy; nicely made.

Boy, what a great investment this was! We bought this along with the front loader and wow, does it get used a lot! My little one just loves filling up that front loader and dumping stuff into the back of this dump truck. The dump truck then goes all over the place delivering whatever is in the back, and comes back for more. He goes through sand, mud, you name it and looks great. These trucks clean up very easily and don’t marr hardwood floors. It’s pretty cute seeing how many things he can do with this truck – it just provides hours of fun for him.

This truck is durable and child size, my son loves to sit in the back and for me to push him around.

I got this truck for my son for his second birthday (he will be four next month) and he as loved it since day one. I am now having to buy a second one because my daughter, who will be two in January, loves the truck as much as her brother, but they can only share it for 20 minutes or so before a fight breaks out. I normaly refuse to buy two of the same toys, but this is such a well built, well used toy that I am breaking down and getting it anyhow.

Believe it or not, this one is even better than the original Tonka Mighty Dump Truck. I had already bought my kids one of the classic Tonka Mighty Dump Trucks like I had as a boy. (The youngest was tearing around with it in the sand box, across the drive, everywhere, basically like I had.) I didn’t intend to buy this new bigger one, I was just going to buy the Road Grader and Quarry Truck Pack. By a stroke of fortune the store was giving that pack away with this new Toughest Mighty Truck for about the same price, so I figured, “Wow, free truck!” and plopped it in the cart. Turns out that it would have been well worth it regardless. I had seen this newer monster sized version, but wasn’t sure what to make of it. This one is well thought out, and Tonka really did improve on the existing design. The larger, wider size makes it even better for little ones to push around as fast as their legs will go. It has fewer angled corners so wipeouts are less likely to draw blood/raise a lump than the older ones.

It was listed as available at Amazon for around $30, and then unavailable, and then available at a cost of over $100. At the time, the cost was almost as high on eBay. Unfortunately, sometimes the hype gets ridiculous, and dedicated fans get burned. Catering to the collector market, Mattel produced several other more expensive `elite’ 1/18 scale replicas, as well as several other versions of the Batmobile at smaller scales. Those interested in Barris’ Batmobile might want to check out what’s available, and find the one that suits you best. At the current price, the entry level 1/18 scale version is a nice memento for fans of Bill Dozier’s classic TV series. Hopefully Batman will be released on DVD soon. It is a shame it hasn’t happened yet, as almost every other major series from the 60′s seems to have already been released in some form.

I have had this item on my wish list for some time now… well fathers day came up and one of my daughters bought it for me! I was totally surprised when I open the box! I had no idea that she knew I had a wish list and I have to say it was one of the best Fathers Days that I have had! I have always loved this car, it was the coolest in my mind! When I used to watch the series back in 1966 I wanted my own Bat Mobile (who didn’t). Well it’s not the real one but I have my car! I love you Court and Thank you for bring my dream to a reality! The detail is the best, I have not opened the box yet… I’m not to sure I will but most likely I will…LOL

Love the product, but it arrived with pieces broken. Don’t know if that happened in transit of if the company sent it knowing it was broken. I’ve tried contacting them but so far no response.

For almost 40 years I’ve been waiting for an accurate replica of the 1966 Batmobile, and finally it’s here! This model has been computer scanned from the actual original vehicle still in the possession of customizer George Barris, so it is without a doubt, the most accurate mass produced, commercially available model of the car available. This diecast profiles correctly to the shape of the original car ( which has been distorted in most toys and models available over the decades ) and the details, even down to the red pinstriping, look great. Hardcore scrutinizers may find a quibble here and there with minor details ( such as two very small “badges” on the grille of the car ) but some variations are inevitable, as this car has had parts replaced ( such as the “turbine exhaust” ), and has been tinkered with over the years. But when the overall look of the model is so correct, those minor changes hardly matter. The model has a glossy black paint job, matching the look of the car on the television series.

I just received my Batmobile and I am blown away by this version! Anyone who is a Batman fan should add this car to their collection. The original 1966 version of the Batmobile has been, and always will be the coolest version of this automobile!

My experience with Tonka toys ended decades ago, so I thought the best way to see if this Tonka Tough Shifters Powered Semi would be a hit was to give the truck to my nephews (ages 7 & 9) and see what they had to say. These guys, raised on Hot Wheels & Monster Trucks, were very impressed! They loved the real truck sounds & the interchangable parts, which allowed their imaginations to run wild. They really enjoyed the ability to change the look of the truck as the spirit moved them. As with the legendary yellow Tonka dump-truck, the Shifters Powered Semi really held up to the rough & tumble play the boys threw its way. This barrels of fun truck got four very enthusiastic thumbs-up from my nephews, which made Uncle Mark’s day. A great toy for hours of tough & imaginative play!

Great things about this truck: + Batteries included! + Enough parts for 2 configurations + Tool included + Lots of cool sounds and motion + Nice assessories At first glance, my 10YO said “that’s for babies”. But this toy is not for babies or toddlers. The appropriate age range for this toy would probably be 4-8 year olds. The truck is part of a “Mod Machines” system and its parts are interchangeable with other “Mod Machines”. The top and bottom of the truck are removeable. I’m surprised to read some of the other reviews complaining about not being able to understand how to use the toy. There is one tool. There are screws at various places on the toy. Turn the screws with the tool to seperate the pieces or put them together however you like. The instructions show the user how to create a low, fast truck or a high, powerful truck. Also, the child can use his imagination to create all sorts of different trucks trying his own configurations. Despite calling the truck a “baby toy”, my son and his friends have played with the truck for an hour now and built it a dozen different ways. This toy is very educational and durable. Most children are used to discovering things through trial and error, so this is perfect. The pieces are very durable. I wish this had come out when my son was younger. He would’ve gotten all “Mod Machines”!

It came all tied up, and getting it apart was the most frustrating thing for my son (and me). You can use it with 6 wheels or 4. The motor is strong enough to push it over little “hills” (aka, books placed under the carpet that my son made as a hill). The only real negative is that the motor control button is burried, and you cannot turn it off without taking the cab off. I would have knocked off half a star for that, just because it is not hard to design it with an easier access. This is easily a hit! Your kids will love it….and you might too!

Tonka made some of my favorite toys when I was growing up and this is definitely something I would have loved to play with. My 4 and 6 year old nephews were very excited about the Mod-Machines Semi Hauler and were excitedly talking about playing “pit stop” and towing other toys while I was unpacking the toy. One of the best things about the toy is that is has interchangeable parts that can be swapped with other Mod-Machines vehicles. After wrenching on the truck for a while, the 4 year old removed the Semi Hauler’s motor and installed it in a smaller Mod-Machines vehicle that he already had and was delighted to find that the motor worked (actually ran) on that truck too, making the old toy something new and exciting again. Whoo Hoo! Home run!

My 6 y.o. son loves this! It is basic in the sense that building, and taking apart and rebuilding is pretty straight forward (for me), however, it is the perfect balance for my son. Not too difficult but also not too easy. Aligning some of the pieces was a bit of a challenge, but not the kind of challenge that ends in frustration and makes you give up. Nothing beats the old metal Tonka’s that I used to play with, but those days are long gone. Still, this is a solid toy, and even with my sons less than careful/delicate force, it is doing just fine. What is also nice was all the extra wheels. The different sizes at first made it pull to one side, and my son thought it was poorly made. When he changed the wheels to have the same size on both sides, he realized it was the wheels that caused it….a nice little lesson learned. My son has been enjoying himself quite a bit. I think it’s a winner. It is a little difficult getting the wheels on and off….but that’s good. No broken pieces of plastic.
